EVENT DETAILS
One celebration. Two competitions!
Hester Street Fair returns for its 4th annual day devoted to coffee and this year we are going all in and making it a special Coffee Only Street Fair. In addition to the coveted coffee competition, we will be adding a Latte Art throwdown with a $1,000 cash prize.
Latte Art Throw Down
$1,000 cash prize – we are not accepting “ringers,” or known champions this competition is open to aspiring latte artist. We will also introduce one artist as a judge, Lance Delosreyes, aka, Rambo alongside top champions and technical judges. This is a traditional old school latte art throw down open to the public we will be offering entries for baristas and those who want to give it a try. This is a bracket style competition with a sudden death format featuring head-to-head competition as “a match” between the competitors. The competitor receiving the highest score from the three judges advances to the next round and the loser is eliminated. Competitors are given three minutes to produce one free-pour drink for the judges (no etching, tool, powders, etc. – just milk and espresso), which is then scored against the competitor. Entrance fee is only $10.
You Be The Judge
Hester Street Fair loves friendly competition. Anyone can purchase a voting ticket which grants you one vote per ticket and a 2-ounce sample for one drink from each coffee shop. At 5pm we will tally up the votes and announce a winner. Expect samples from 10-15 coffee shops.
Coffee Beers and Cocktails
We will have on hand several porters, stouts and coffee infused beers including Mikkeller’s Dry Irish Stout called Proper Pint and KCBC’s Necor Alchemy, brewed with Brooklyn-based metal band Tombs, featuring Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans from lead singer Mike Hill’s SAVAGE GOLD coffee company.
