Hester Street Fair’s Girl Power Fair is back for its third edition with the best and the boldest women in New York, experimental art projects, performances and so much more!
EVENT DETAILS
Hester Street Fair’s Girl Power Fair is back for its third edition on June 16th with the best and the boldest women in New York! Our beloved Girl Power event is proud to showcase a line up of female owned and operated businesses, vendors, artists, and performers- a packed day powered by women.
Hester Street Fair x Lower Eastside Girls Club
We’ve partnered with our neighbors at The Lower Eastside Girls Club for the third year in a row to support their educational programming for middle and high school girls. By delivering strong arts, literacy, and STEM programs, they provide girls with the vision to plan – and the tools to build – their future. Be sure to check out their ‘Made By Us’ booth full of crafts made throughout the year in their after school program!
Hester Street Fair will be donating a portion of the day’s profits and collecting contributions at the bar and DJ booth for the LES Girls Club throughout the day. Additionally, we encourage those who can contribute to consider donating or volunteering. You can find out more about contributing to LESGC here.
Celebrate and Support GIRL POWER!
Stop by the Hester Street Fair zine booth to check out the best in alternative press generously donated by Forge Magazine, Tan n Loose Press, Printed Matter, Emma Kohlmann, Brie Moreno, and more to come. All proceeds from our zine booth will be donated to The Audre Lorde Project, a community organizing center for LGBTQ+ people of color. You can find out more about their social justice programming and work to challenge discrimination here, and find opportunities to support their mission here.
Our ‘What is Girl Power?’ workshop is back to collectively express what Girl Power means to each of us. Hester Street Fair will provide paper & supplies in our workshop tent to write, draw and color “What Is Girl Power”. Once finished, each participant is invited to pin their paper to a wall and we will take a moment to review before the end of the day. This year’s ‘What is Girl Power’ project will later be assembled in the form of a zine and sold for charity.
The New York Board of Elections will be on hand to help attendees get registered to vote. What better way to support fellow fems than by getting involved in your community and exercising your right to vote!
